The new running watch was much more accurate today both with distance and sleep measurement. A buzzer goes off at the 500 and 1000 calorie marks, so I’m starting to learn some of its features. It also holds a charge at least five times longer than my former I-Watch. I heard on the radio this morning that the downtown Apple store is finally reopening, so I may take it down there for repairs. It had been closed since the start of the rioting, so it could also be the start of a retail resurgence in Portland. Too many store fronts are still boarded up and covered with disturbing graffiti. Regardless, a few months from now I won’t be dealing with the city of Portland any longer.

I’m longing for that Florida sunshine and a break from city life. The streets are getting busier, while driving is becoming a bigger hassle. This was the issue before the pandemic, but at least we could take public transportation or walk. With everything closed, there’s really no advantage to living downtown. We miss the restaurants and movie theaters that drew us to the area. I am glad, however, that we moved into an apartment with no need to worry about selling to make this Florida  move. We’ve also made our last rent payment, with only utility and storage fees left to pay. I just spoke with the movers again to solidify our North American Van Lines agreement. We’re just waiting on the closing date on the new house that should happen soon.

TV continues to sadly be our main source of entertainment these days. We got tired of Hitchcock movies and decided to try the Bridgerton series on Netflix. We’ll watch the final episode tonight. It was a good thing that we got in tune with the popularity of this show because Rege-Jean Page, the Duke of Hastings, was the host for Saturday Night Live. Otherwise, we would have had no idea who this handsome fellow was doing the monologue. It’s not difficult for us Senior Citizens to be totally out of touch with current trends. As opposed to “hip to be square,” it was good to be hip!
