Our long ago ordered patio furniture is finally arriving this morning. Lengthy delays in shipping and delivery are one of the affects of Covid and related unemployment. As a result, staffing is minimal and production slow. Just moving from Oregon to Florida was a major hassle as trucking was simply not available. Slowly but surely, items that we then ordered to fill our new home are just starting to arrive, five months later. Overhead fans are still on backorder, while lamps only recently arrived. Our next steps will be to order and put down deposits on a pool heater, built-ins, and the outdoor kitchen, knowing that it will take months to see them installed.

We’ve done what we can to get our home in order. Driveway pavers took three months to get here. Our guest bedroom furniture also took months for delivery. We’re still waiting on a countertop repair, roofing inspection, thermostat, wiring, doorframe adjustment, and irrigation system upgrade. We’ve come a long way since our first month of sleeping on an inflatable bed, using an aquarium stand for our TV, and sitting on folding chairs. A custom kitchen backsplash has been installed, along with overhead lighting including a cross-country transported chandelier that now hangs over our dining room table. Chairs have been repaired and furniture refinished from the difficult move.

It’s Home, Sweet, Home, at Last, despite these necessary adjustments to make everything perfect, knowing that there will always be something yet to add. My wife is thrilled with the “camp-like” neighborhood atmosphere, reminiscent of her childhood. She’s found a bevy of activities to keep her entertained and happy. So Happy Together (See Post #1704) and we like the Weather. As they say, Happy wife…happy life.
