It has not been a good week dealing with illness, vet bills, a sore hip, stock market woes, bad basketball, and now rainy weather. I did feel at least like a little long overdue house cleaning and a night out for dinner. I even got five to six solid hours of sleep without a trip to the bathroom. It could have been the three martinis? I did pass-out while reading and slept on top of my i-Pad now drained of any charge. Also on the positive side, we received our federal and state tax refunds and I was confirmed for Medicare Part B. Plus, we get an extra day to salvage the week.

It’s Leap Day, although just another day in retirement world. For those in the workforce, at least it’s a Saturday. For me, it just delays the arrival of March that I associate with spring and warmer temperatures. We’re now less than two weeks from Phoenix, but facing a full week of rain here in Portland. Signs of spring are popping out of the ground, but still no signals of the necessary warmth to dry-up the congestion. I may have to take it with me to Phoenix before I finally get rid of it. Truth of the matter is though that I probably caught in on a plane flight from Las Vegas, so I’ll run that risk again. It’s going to be a tough year of evading one virus after another.

Coronavirus has infected the stock market and is threatening to alter our international travel plans. I’m starting to worry about our plans to go to Bali and Egypt this year. I should have invested in more travel insurance and sick just thinking about it. We decided to “leap” into the year with an aggressive schedule of adventures. I just hope that it’s not over the Grand Canyon.
