I only have a few minutes to write this morning because I’m off to help a friend make wine. When I get back home later, I have dinner to prepare. It’s one of those rare busy days in retirement, made more challenging by the pandemic. Yesterday was also active with dinner at my son-in-law’s house and the weekly Falco and Tally dog reunion. They got a long walk together, fought over each other’s bones, and barked at the mailman. I watched bits and pieces of the World Series. Afterwards, we got one more episode of Fargo in before bedtime. Once again, I feel asleep in a mild alcoholic haze from several glasses of wine.

I’m hoping that the phone message I got early this morning is from the project manager assigned to our new home in Florida, although the promised e-mail with details has yet to arrive. From the time of the call, they obviously didn’t realize that there was a three- hour time difference. We’re anxious to get started on this process because it will determine the timeline of our much anticipated move. This will involve another cross-country drive, but including Tally this time. Moving arrangements will revolve around the construction, as well as the exit plans from our apartment building. We settled on the location in January, so it will be about a fifteen- month process from start to finish. Construction itself will take four-months from this point forward.

I’m still waiting for the meatless gauntlet to drop. Tonight, we’re having ribs and last night it was chicken, so my diet has yet to change. I will have a cheeseburger for lunch just in case this is the last day. I remain supportive of my wife’s plan to eliminate beef in an attempt to control her thyroid issues. Thanks to the daily run, my weight has remained stable despite more snacking and less activity during these times of stay-at-home isolation. However, I can always stand to lose a few pounds, so a change in diet will at least be another variation in our routine. Stayed tuned for more of the adventures of the soon to be “Meatless Mike.”
