At least I don’t have to worry about the sinking Stock Market today. Thankfully, it’s closed for the weekend. I did get my “Two Cents Worth” this morning as the sidewalk yielded two more pennies to add to the 13 found yesterday. Running can be a very prosperous activity! Apparently, two more angels were trying to reach out to me, and I apologize for forgetting John and Joseph in my recent list of lost souls. (See Post #1251). I’m thankful to have all of these angels looking out for me, especially in these troubled times. Naturally, I once again rushed to the soap after I picked them up off the ground, as I continue to be more and more a germaphobe. Wash your hands!

We’re moving on to Tucson today, after a surprisingly entertaining day in lieu of Spring Training cancellations. We would have been seeing the A’s and Mariners this afternoon but like most everything else, the game is CANCELLED. (See Post #1252). As an alternative to yesterday’s Cubs vs. Sox game, we were fortunate to have a friend who provided tickets for the Mecum Auto Auction along with a behind-the-scenes VIP tour of the live-action. It was one of the few live sports-related events on TV yesterday, and I’m not sure how they avoided being CANCELED. We also got the thrill of doing donuts in the parking lot by the hand of a former NASCAR driver. It kept us all entertained until partaking in a fabulous gourmet dinner at another friend’s home. It was much more than the appetizers we were expecting, as we reminisced about our work together back in Indianapolis. A glorious double-rainbow that stretched over the highway led us to their neighborhood, adding another special touch to a very memorable day.

I’ll leave Phoenix with 15 more cents in my pocket, far from making up for the thousands of dollars lost in the Stock Market panic. I did, however, probably save at least a thousand bucks through the CANCELLATION of next week’s Dallas baseball trip. We haven’t formed a plan yet for today that might make-up for the loss of Spring Training, but I’m sure we’ll get creative and find something fun to do. In the meantime, I’m feeling sorry for the hotel, airline, and ticket business that have all been so accommodating in refunding our dollars. Unfortunately, they are not getting anywhere near their “Two Cents Worth.”
