Life is back to peace and quiet. Our house guests are gone, the wedding is over, and I’ve reclaimed my writing office. However, tomorrow things will change again, as we bring another puppy into the mix. As my wife’s daughter travels to Hawaii for the honeymoon, we will be dog sitting for Falco. She’s a new addition to their household and my wife’s first grand dog. There are also two grand cats that will also need some attention while they’re honeymooning. Falco, a cute little terrier mix, was recently adopted and probably feels some separation anxiety in their absence. She was already disturbed by the crowd of people that invaded her space during yesterday’s post-wedding brunch. Then, she found out that we all had food and left crumbs on the floor. Our two schnauzers will have to adapt to sharing with their new niece. There will not be enough crumbs to go around.

The inflatable bed, a.k.a. “The Bounce House,” (See Post #1108) served its purpose and proved to be somewhat comfortable to sleep on, especially after excessive alcohol consumption. This always goes hand-in-hand with a wedding. It was our second such affair in two months, and the first bride and her new husband were our first overnight guests in the new apartment. It was her sister’s turn this time to be the star, but both got to dress like princesses. All of the related ceremonies took place near our neighborhood, including the bookstore wedding, dinner reception, and karaoke after-party. We were able to walk home afterwards, Last night, the “Bounce House” was deflated and my office returned to normal and my wife was able to access her closet. The one thing we’ve learned about living in a smaller space is that we’re constantly moving one thing to get to another.

It’s “Matinee Monday” with today’s choice being Current Wars. We’ll once again walk to the theater, taking advantage of the convenience of our apartment location. Unfortunately. this downtown venue doesn’t offer the Senior discount benefits that we found in the suburbs. It may be worth driving in the future. There’s a smaller theater in our neighborhood but it only shows one film at a time and a couple of Arts Cinemas that we’ve yet to frequent. We’ll also finish watching Season 3 of “Goliath” tonight, after a “Meatless Monday” dinner. These have all become retirement traditions for the two of us after busy weekends that are really no different from every other day of the week.
