Once again, the dog is the best groomed in our household. I won’t speak for my wife because she’s always put-together, but my hair is long and shaggy. I won’t have time today to get to Great Clips because the priority is the “Leadership Meeting.” Once I’ve had some wings and beer, I won’t care about my hair. It’s good to be back in the Friday lunch-with-friends routine after months of missing out. It’s also good to see all the neighborhood restaurants expanding their outdoor dining into the streets. It’s a strong sign of hope.
Friday is still the best day of the week even after years of retirement. I’ve often boasted about every day being the same without the work-week to contend with any more, but Fridays are still special. There’s a positive energy in the air that I can sense from the moment my eyes open in the morning. People are in a better mood with the weekend approaching. However, for most of them, it will soon be another dismal Monday. I no longer dread Mondays, but will always look forward to Fridays. Next Friday, we head towards Glacier National Park with overnight stops in Walla-Walla and Spokane. Five Fridays from today, we start our cross-country drive to Florida.
I’m even re-watching Friday Night Lights, a show where I once secured some small walk-on roles. It was something to do when my wife took a job in Austin, Texas. I managed to get in some crowd scenes, a segment at a car dealership, and a school board role. It was fun to meet the cast and crew, so the show will always be special to watch. There’s nothing better than watching Friday Night Lights on a Friday. I’ll make a point of that this afternoon with a belly full of beer and wings. It’s that Friday Feeling!
