I started the day at a baseball card breakfast, learning the intricacies of spotting forgeries and miss-graded condition. Admittedly, I found myself glazing over in the midst of the conversation, anxious to move on to another topic. Fortunately, I don’t have much in my collection that is valuable enough to worry about over-paying or fraud. I’m impressed and envious of those that do! We were talking about the rare Honus Wagner baseball card worth well over seven figures. (See Post #54). I don’t have one, but the guy leading the conversation does. It’s obviously more than the money to these diamond aficionados, with personal ownership more valuable than cash-in-hand.
After a hearty breakfast, it’s Movie Matinee Monday and our $5 choice today is Joker (not The) at the nearby Mission Theater. We’ll also stop by Goodwill again this afternoon to drop off more downsizing. I passed on some wall-mounted storage racks to a friend, reducing our storage lockers from three to two. Every nook and cranny in our apartment is filled to capacity, making it difficult to maneuver in our new but cramped living quarters. I’ve got the Netflix series Jack Taylor on the TV in front of me, as I complete today’s blog entry. They haven’t been filled with much imagination of late, with my mind occupied by where to fit everything in our possession.
We had a major power outage in the neighborhood last night. It’s especially challenging in our all-electric building. The elevators didn’t work to get the dog stroller downstairs, we moved cautiously by candlelight, and had to take turns holding the secure entrance door while the pups did their business. At some point in the middle of the night, I woke up to our lights coming back on after a couple hours of total silence. It’s definitely one of the drawbacks of electric as opposed to gas like we had in our old place. I’m glad it happened at bedtime, otherwise I might have missed out on some good TV watching. Give Me Power!
