Since I’m a recent retiree, I’m now in the life management business. I have a family budget, and several sources of income, so it’s time to put together a ten-year plan. My wife and I got together on this yesterday and the timetable stretched a few more years.
Travel to Amsterdam, Venice, Croatia, Dalmatian Islands, Greece, and Puerto Vallarta.
Thailand and Hawaii (Kauai)
Fiji/Bali
20th Wedding (China) Anniversary/China and Hong Kong
Singapore/Seychelles
Sell Portland House/ Joint retirement World Cruise
Amalfi Coast rental/Explore Europe
Hawaii rental for year (explore islands)
Move to Florida/Egypt/Africa

In order to travel the world, pets sadly will no longer be a part of our lives in five years and quarterly trips back to Indiana will probably stop. Once we sell our Portland home, our household possessions will go into storage for two years, enabling us to rent in Italy and Hawaii. By that time, our income will be limited to both social security checks and my pension. so travel will continue to be funded through monthly joint I.R.A. withdrawals. Also, we’ll have paid off our Marriott Vacation Club time share arrangement in ten years, so those expenses will be limited to a monthly maintenance fee. I plan to travel extensively into my eighties, and then limit travel to the states. My wife is five years younger, so I’ll keep up with her as long as I can.
