I took the day off yesterday from my daily blog pledge, drawing a blank on what to write about. Instead, I spent most of the day on my Ancestry.com family tree that has now grown to over 13,500 names relating to my Banister heritage. In the background, I continue to watch Showtime’s Dexter carve-up his criminal victims. My wife got home from a business trip late last night, so everything is back to normal today, responding to my 6 a.m. alarm. Our “Date Night” will be delayed a day. She can spend a well-deserved quiet evening at home. Meetings this week should determine the fate of her career. I have her looking at some cruises today in anticipation of more time together.

I guess staying at home by yourself doesn’t exactly provide rich material for this blog. I lived in true bachelor-like style by sleeping-in, not shaving, watching T.V., eating bar chicken, and having in-depth conversations with the dogs. The Cubs continue to be a big disappointment and the only feedback I get on my writing is spam. There were over 150 of these irritating messages that I had to clean-out before getting started again. I’m looking forward to the “Leadership Meeting” on Friday and the Baseball Old Timer’s golf outing that kicks-off next week. I haven’t played golf even once in retirement and so it’s been at least three years since I’ve swept the cobwebs off my clubs. I just hope it doesn’t screw-up my back again.

I would have been better off just submitting a blank page today. It might have been more interesting than the babble I’ve created. Oops, Dexter has killed again. I’ll finish Season 3 before the day is over and try to watch the helpless Cubbies suffer through another game at Busch Stadium. The good news is that basketball will soon be my primary source of frustration.
