It’s a cool, windy Friday with the toughest part of the day behind me. Reservations for a boat ride this afternoon have been cancelled due to gale force wind warnings. If it’s not Covid or fires, it’s weather that ruins a perfectly good plan. We’ll have to find something else to do to entertain our guests before the sunset dinner. I would be content just sitting here at my writing desk all day.

Halloween is suddenly upon us but there will be little Trick-or-Treat activity in our gated neighborhood. Only a few children live here, so we’ll have to join our grandchildren in their area of town. Our youngest will be Dora The Explorer and her sister will wear a Harry Potter Hufflepuff robe. I’ll be dressed in my retirement uniform as a grumpy old man. There is a costume contest at the Braves stadium Saturday night, but I will be there solely to watch World Series Game 4 on the big screen.

On the health front, I signed up for my Covid booster and will get that out of the way next week. I also have a dental appointment and cleaning the same day. Entertainment wise, we should also be able to see Dune on “Matinee Monday.” Installation will begin on our pool heater and a new season of Curse of Oak Island returns to the History Channel next week, adding to the busy retirement schedule ahead. We’ll, of course, continue to watch The Morning Show and Ted Lasso as the week unfolds. Retirement is great without the hassles.
