We’re “frozen” in the Frozen line as I write this, but we’ve already made good progress through Epcot as we wait for the daily fireworks finale. The popular Norway ride was experiencing mechanical problems and the stone floor hard on our already sore backs, so we opted out of line and somehow got a table at Nine Dragons in neighboring China. Once again, my wife was getting “hangry.” She’d already shown her need to get her own way, by purchasing “Mine, Mine, Mine” merchandise. Soon, she had food and Advil to assure a quick swing to the less demanding side of her Gemini personality.

We spent the morning at a nearby Del Webb community, looking at some of the models and the clubhouse. Orlando is not out target retirement city, especially since it’s not near the Gulf Coast. However, we’ve pretty much settled on a Del Web lifestyle. We will need at least another trip to Florida to decide on where to live and what to build. In the meantime, we have to refrain from too much spending. This afternoon, wee simplified our lives by getting rid of the rental car and its cumbersome keys. I now only have my wallet and phone to worry about when I get off every ride – if they’re operating properly. We’ve experienced numerous delays due to equipment failure, including Frozen Ever After, The Seas with Nemo & Friends, and Mission: SPACE. I also forgot my Mickey Mouse sweatshirt, so my wife was obsessed with my being too cold and annoyingly urged me to buy another one. I would rather be frugal than warm.

My favorite part of the day was Soarin’ Around The World and the Uncrustables snack afterwards. I did also enjoy the Epcot fireworks, but they turned out to block our view of the launch of a Falcon 9 rocket that lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Air Force Station. I was disappointed that we missed it, especially after spending the day on rocket simulators, when the real thing was happening right in our back yard. I’ll pay more attention to the launch schedules once we become Florida residents. I’ll also remember to bring my sweatshirt for chilly nights, and go back and experience the Frozen ride. Today, however, we’re headed to the Magic Kingdom before we head back to Portland tomorrow.
