As I think about the things I will miss about Portland, there’s really only a handful:

  • Leadership Meetings with my friends

  • Baseball card shows

  • The mountainous beauty of the Northwest

  • Falco and her family

  • The convenience of the Portland Clinic

  • The cool weather

  • Having a restaurant next door

  • No sales tax

  • Early start time for sports

I couldn’t even come up with one for each finger. On the other hand, when I consider the advantages of moving to Florida, I can come up with several more digits:

  • Grandkids nearby

  • Son for companionship

  • Resort Community

  • Blue skies and sunshine

  • Neighboring ballpark

  • No state taxes

  • Warm Gulf Water and nearby beaches

  • Pool and pond in my backyard

  • A brand new home

  • Suntan

  • Garage space

  • Flat ground

  • No ice and snow

  • No more stairs

Going to Florida is seemingly the right choice for us, trading earthquake threats for hurricanes.  Plus, we’ll make new friends, enjoy the warm beaches, and find new interests. However, the hassle of moving has been more than a handful.
