It’s finally here after a 32-day delay! No more sleeping in a double bed (or worse an inflatable), no more paper plates, and no more worrying about where our stuff is on the road between Oregon and Florida. I’ll believe it when the doorbell rings this morning and see our possessions with my own eyes. No more jokes about it being garage sale fodder – stolen and resold. Our lifestyle will once again be familiar rather than borrowed or improvised. We’re ready to move in for good!

Last night was also the final evening of not having hard work – no unpacking, organizing, or shuffling. Chairs, tables, and lamps will enhance our home’s atmosphere and make us more comfortable. My sports collection will all be back together, and we won’t need to wash the glassware or silverware every night in preparation for the next meal. The lengthy delay between moving in can actually be seen as beneficial, receiving our stuff will give us a greater sense of appreciation for our missing possessions, plus  has allowed us to do some cleaning, sealing, and preparation for the movers. It was a long wait but we’re as ready as we’ll ever get to receive our prized belongings.

There have been a lot of trials and tribulations associated with this relocation that we hope will be the last. We’ve encountered delays, frustration, and medical issues along the way. We’ve bitched and moaned to the moving company and most of our friends are tired of hearing about it. Today begins a new chapter in our lives. Once we get firmly settled we can start to think about traveling once again, as well as hosting friends and neighbors. It will be like Christmas, opening all these packages that are starting to arrive and filling the void in these cavernous halls. We’re excited – at last it’s Moving Day!
