When stuck on the couch all day, there isn’t much to write about. Yesterday, I woke up with a pinched nerve in my back that required some careful stretching to relieve the pain. It allowed me to run but also took a lot out of me. I still haven’t gotten out all the congestion in my lungs but I get a little better every day. Other little obstacles like back problems only add to the frustration of not being fully healthy. However, then I check my Facebook feed and find that another high school classmate has passed away. I guess I’m fortunate to simply be alive and in a position to complain.

With the heating pad on my back, I watched Spring Training baseball yesterday afternoon, the sure formula for a nap. I did not leave the apartment with the exception of my run and a couple of short dog outings. I’ve been on a steady diet of naps this past week in the process of recuperating from this crud that I carry in my lungs. I’m still not up for the “coffee” meeting later this morning. Thoughts of even getting in the car for a short drive is beyond my current level of motivation. I will watch Curse of Oak Island, do some Ancestry research, and hopefully make the dental cleaning appointment that I missed last week. Tonight is also “Date Night,” so another nap may be out of the question.

It was actually in the upper 40’s this morning, a heat wave compared to the past few weeks – make that months! We will soon flee to warmer Arizona temperatures, but even Las Vegas just a few weeks ago did not meet our expectations for much desired heat. Mardi Gras has just passed and February will soon be over despite the extra day. Spring is well on its way and another Portland winter will be behind us. Just one more to tolerate before we make the move to a Florida retirement community. I’m literally sick of the cold!
