It was grandpa’s duty to stay with Nora Grace this morning; the precarious three-year old needing supervisory guidance with both parents at work. I left our house relatively early after a shortened run. A crew was in our front yard preparing for a delivery of brick pavers. The plan is to expand our driveway on both sides while adding additional drainage. Right now the downspouts are exposed and unsightly, but they will soon be hidden underground. In the process, our entryway will also be wider. Several of our neighbors have done the same upgrade, while others are still weighing costs and timelines. As much as I would like to help, my expertise is needed elsewhere.

I’m usually the last option when it comes to childcare since I have the least amount of experience. This is really my first extended solo venture – five hours with dog and child. Fortunately, we’ve got Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood to entertain us. The museum trip two days ago to see his neighborhood exhibit was definitely a bonding experience. (See Post #1790). As a result, it was hardly the makings of a horror film, and instead a surprisingly good time for both of us.

I’m in shock over a friend’s death last night. It was quite unexpected, thinking she was in good health with a only a few memory issues. I’m too far away to be of much support for her husband, a lifelong buddy. We have had many good times together as couples, both here and abroad. They were coming to visit us in a few months. This is the second close loss I’ve felt in the last few weeks, while not quite ready to write about it! Today, I’ll focus on my babysitting duties and Daniel Tiger before I get too emotional.
