Nine more Portland runs before we start the long trek to Florida sunshine. Nine more gray days of sitting here in my home office thinking about closing, packing, and loading hassles associated with the cross-country move. Inspection has already been an issue leading to a one-week delay. Tomorrow I deal with Regions Bank for hopefully the last time in my life. Today, I replace the license plate that was missing from my car last week and officially attach the Sunpass. Yesterday, we bought a chandelier that will go on the truck and some beach chairs, saving on sales tax. Florida does not have state tax but gets their revenue in other ways than Oregon.  It all probably comes out in the wash.

Ozark (delayed) starts a new season this Saturday night. In the meantime, we’ve been watching Longmire, a replay for me. The Oregon and Indiana women have advanced to the NCAA tournament Sweet 16, joining the Oregon State and Oregon men in the quest for a National Championship. TV continues to be the chief source of entertainment, with fill-in shows like Gold Rush and Curse of Oak Island making background noise. Bedtime reading is James Patterson’s Black Book. For an extreme change of pace, I booked my first live concert in well over a year yesterday.

When 2020 Spring Training baseball games were canceled, I received a ticket credit from the booking agency. It was about to expire so I began to look for options in Florida. As it turned out, Santana and Earth, Wind, & Fire are playing outdoors at the MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre in late August, just in time for my 70th birthday.  Both of these bands are filled with fellow Septuagenarians that won’t keep me out too late. There’s also a casino nearby. It will be a memorable getaway weekend in Tampa thanks to Marriott and ticket vouchers. Plus, I will no longer have to admit that Barry Manilow was my last concert.
